Ten Years That Shook the City: Lecture

Chris Carlsson will present stories of San Francisco’s tumultuous 1970s, when vital social movements saved the Mission, forced the city to build the Yerba Buena Gardens and hundreds of senior housing units around Moscone Center, fought to save the I-Hotel, created a pulsing mural movement, ensured the hilltop open spaces that still grace our city, and much more. Founder of Shaping San Francisco and its co-director for the past 20 years, Carlsson is a fount of knowledge about local history and will answer queries from people in attendance.
